It is difficult to explain the vocabulary in sign language when no signs exist. Steven L. Jamison, an IBM employee and a consultant on the communication, education, and employment needs of deaf people has compiled and edited a book establishing standardized signs for computer related terms. The book gives sign language equivalents for some 600 expressions like "byte", "chip", "diskette", etc. This manual has been a welcome edition in that it provides a standardized vocabularly for communicating and comprehension.
