4 The Arts Renowned Dutch harpsichordist Ton Koopman will perform the premiere concert on Douglas College's new French harpsichord in the Performing Arts Theatre on October 10. Renowned kKeyboardists to perform A brand-new harpsichord, a concert featuring acclaimed Vancouver pianist Robert Silver- man and an art show recently featured at the UBC Museum of Anthropology; it’s going to be a busy October on the arts calendar at Douglas College. Internationally renowned Dutch harpsichordist Ton Koopman performs on October 10 at 8 pm on the College’s newly acquired French harpsichord, built by Craig Tomlinson of Van- couver. Koopman will play selections by Bach and various French harpsichord composers. Silverman, recording artist and Director of the UBC School of Music, will perform a pro- gram featuring Schubert and Schumann on October 24 at 8 pm. Both concerts are benefits for the College’s music students and will be performed at the Per- forming Arts Theatre. To reserve tickets for either show, call 527-5495. Meanwhile, the Amelia Douglas Gallery presents Salt Glazed Stoneware. The show features works in the medium by artists including Mark Henry, Cathy Jefferson and Wayne Ngan. « Retirees return Douglas College will honor its 1992 retirees and welcome back many of those who retired in past years during special functions on October 16. The day will feature a wine and cheese party hosted by the Deans and Bursar, beginning at 3:30 pm in the Douglas Room, to which everyone is invited.
