It is strongly advised that applicants canvas their immediate colleagues and administrators, as well as any other college personnel, to secure support for their proposals. Applicants should try to obtain written support which can be enclosed with the application form-- although communiques of support which arrive after receipt of this form will still be accepted by the committee. Of course, applicants should familiarize themselves with Article 12 of the collective agreement as well as the President's memorandum indicating current development priorities for the college. The Interviews Each applicant is customarily granted an interview to permit the committee to address specific matters arising from each application. The format of these interviews is a matter for each year's committee to decide on but usually the interviews are about thirty minutes long. A list of interview questions is designed to enable the applicant to update the committee on new information, to clarify further details of the proposal and to respond to member's concerns regarding the merits of the proposal. A list of questions is forwarded to the applicants before the interview and may include specific questions regarding each application. The Committee The Committee is composed of an administrator and elected faculty representatives from each department/area in the college. The elected members serve a staggered two year term. Each year a new chairperson is elected. The committee is bound by the terms of the Collective Agreement and is charged with the responsibility for recommending or not recommending proposals each year to the College President whose decision is final. The Committee's Guidelines Aside from the considerations outlined in the collective agreement, the committee draws up each year a series of guidelines for adjudicating applicants.
