MAD HATTER 5 douglas college © Inter Office Memo Date: _March 19, 1987. To: DOUGLAS COLLEGE BOARD From: W. L. DAY Re: PRESIDENT'S REPORT A. External Matters - Municipal Representatives of the College are pursuing informal discussions with representatives of First Capital City Development Company Ltd., and New Westminster City, regarding long term arrangements for downtown New Westminster parking for Douglas College. I hope that some preliminary information may be available to the Board by its next Regular Meeting. B. External Matters - Education On February 24th, I attended a meeting in Ottawa, as a member of © the ACCC Task Force on the Canadian Job Strategy. Our meeting, with two senior officials of CEIC, was very informative. A report is included in the Board Agenda package. In addition, a commentary from Yves Sanssoucci, President of ACCC, is also attached. During the month, I have had a number of meetings with Dr. DellaMattia, and Dr. Doug Jardine, Chairman of the Council of Principals, regarding Totem Conference affairs. At the regular Council of Principals meeting in Kelowna at the end of this month, the CEO's of those colleges and institutes involved in the Totem Conference, will be discussing the matter at length. I expect to have recommendations and information for the Board at its next Regular Meeting. The BCAC Public Information Committee is continuing to meet, with special emphasis on next year's plans and the Colleges and Institutes Week. On March 3rd, the Council of Principals Executive Committee met with Ministry staff. As might be expected, the primary focus of the discussion was on current Ministry organization, financial prospects, and the revision processes to the formula. The formula funding committees of Ministry and college personnel are hard at work, and we expect that within two months, preliminary findings will be © available for discussion.
