The Department of Labour will:

formulate a comprehensive vocational and technical training plan.

set the priorities for training and the numbers of trainees required

through research and consultation with government departments, employers,

and unions.

establish and supervise the ereatine of certification for trade and
other skilled occupations.

initiate training and employment programs for youth, women re-entering
the labour market, Native Indians, handicapped and disadvantaged

members of the community.

review suggested programs as requested by tthe Department of Education

’ through the Co-ordinating Committee and adwise on the appropriateness

of the program within the overall manpower plan.

ensure the involvement of employer and employee groups on al? program

development committees,

‘approach the Department of Education through. the Co-ordinating Committee

with every identified training need so that joint participation in
