. Mad Hatter Page 4 ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY OF DOUGLAS COLLEGE ROYAL AVENUE. CAMPUS Since the openiny of our new Campus, a variety of health related concerns have been raised by a number of employees and students. AS a matter of policy, each of these concerns has been referred to the College's Health and Safety Committee, which is comprised of a member of the staff, faculty, student society and administration for its review and necessary action. Most recently, the Aaministrative Review raised similar concerns over potential health issues within the buildiny. Based on these onyoiny concerns, the Health and Safety Committee, through the co-operation of the Acting Director of Facilities Services, Terry Leonard, reyuested the Occupational Environmental Branch throuyh the Ministry of Labour to inspect the buildiny to ensure it complied with the Factory Act as well as the Qccupational Environmental Reyulations of British Columbia. Their inspection has now been completed ana their findings have been submited to tne Colleye as well as members of the Health and Safety Conmittee. Specifically, the report commented on the following: 1) Heating and air circulation syste Thermal comfort Humidity Indoor air quality All fall within the acceptable limits (Ashrae Comfort Chart) It should be noted that tne Science and Math and Social Sciences/Allied Health field bases as well as the Library Technical Services Unit area did not fall within acceptable minimum temperature limits and have been adjusted, 2) Ventilation Print Shop - concern of the minimum capacity of exhaust has been addressed. Maintenance Work Shop - similar to the Print Shop. This issue has since been addressed.
