MAD HATTER PAGE 4 gram over the past month. Both events were very well organized, and demon- strated enthusiasm from the student body. The Educational Policy and Planning Committee had its last regular meeting until August, two weeks ago. It will, however, be having a special workshop and meeting in July, to deal with the Educational Plan, and our proposed budget for the fiscal year 1983/84. Because of concerns over budget, I was requested to attend a special meeting of Adult Basic Education students at Winslow, which again proved to be an informative and helpful experience for me. I believe that the students were satisfied that their interests were being considered in our over-all plan- ning. D. Internal Matters - Labour Relations We are in active discussion with both the BCGEU and the Faculty Association with regard to the impact of layoffs, and notices of intent to layoff. All members of the administration are doing their best to ensure that there is an adequate exchange of information with the unions in regard to our current budget adjustments, in order that differences, should they arise, will be ones of substance, rather than of communication or process. E. iuternal Matters - General: Our “mini” summer school is running smoothly. All but one of our offerings have been fully subscribed, or are over- subscribed. Now that the Board has approved a pro- cess for evaluation of the President, I have assigned two members of the Man- agement Committee and our Director of Personnel the task of devising an appropriate methodology of evaluation of performance of the senior administrat-— ion. . eee This proposal is to be available to me by mid-September. In the meantime, I will be providing to all members of the senior administration a review of per- formance that will serve as their first annual review. This initial review will not necessarily be the model of future evaluations. The Finance, Facilities and Personnel Committee of the Board will be acquainted with the contents of my review. The expenditure plan proposals that were approved by the College Board at its last meeting are now at the imple- mentation stage. There has been a very high degree of concern voiced within the College and in the community re- garding the decision to eliminate the Programs for Women Special Program Unit. The Board is being kept briefed on these community responses. I expect it will wish to continue to be apprised of the results of this and other act- tons that we have taken in order to live within our budget. I intend to publish in the MAD HATTER as soon as possible, a reasonably de- tailed listing of the actions that we have taken, by Division, and indicat- ing impact on service to the community.
