June 2003 From The Editor a Alrighty then, I lost my prover- bial editorial cherry last month with the publication of my first issue as editor of the Other Press. Like any deflowering, it was exciting, slightly painful, a little embarrassing — but also some- thing I will get better at the more I practise. Now, I know it is cus- tomary for the Editor to apolo- gize for his or her first issue and so let me get it out of the way. I'm sorry. It's me, not you. | swear this has never happened to me before. Let’s try again — it will be better this time baby, I prom- ise. Okay, we're good now, right? Let us move on. This issue prom- ises to be more satisfying. We have newsworthy news, a hap- pening word search, sequinned nekkid ladies, New Music West coverage that will appeal to even the most indie-coiffed music elit- ist, long-dead New Westminsterites, and of course sporty sports courtesy of our own Flash Gordon. And these are just the stories with pictures. So, we hope you'll enjoy our second issue of the summer in this Year of our Lord, 2003. Take a romp through our pages, have your fun, and, if you like, call us the next day. We'll be waiting by the phone.
