Mad Hatter Page 6 him to once more participate in the developmental stages of a major pro- ject. A review is currently taking place regarding Mr. Graydon's position, and the Board will be informed in due course if I have any recommend- ations for structural change, as opposed to straightforward replace- ment of his position. E. INTERNAL — GENERAL On September 17 I met with officials of the United Way, together with Mr. Bob Corbett, and Mr. Jim Doerr who will be working on the United Way Campaign within the College during October. Dr. DellaMattia has met with Mr. John Waters, of Douglas Kwantlen Faculty Association, regarding the joint support of the development of a closer relationship between Douglas College and its alumni. Initial representations in this re- gard were made by Mr. Ralph Stanton last year, as President of the DKFA, and I am pleased that it seems in- creasingly likely that the College and the DKFA will be able to work together in this regard. Other groups are being contacted in order to see what additional co-operation and assistance we might expect. He will be reporting on this matter in due course to the Management Com- mittee and to the Board. I am pleased to announce that Ms. Lillian Zimmerman has received a grant from the Swedish Council for a study visit to Sweden to obtain information on Swedish programming and legislation regarding support of the family. This trip represents an opportunity for the College to gain more information on this topic, which is an important part of our community programming activities. It also is recognition of the high calibre of work that has been car- ried out by the College in this field over the past five years. The report of the Administrative Review Committee of the College has been tabled internally, and is in the process of being given wide distribution for purposes of discussion and decision. I ex- pect that in October I will be in a position to offer comment and decision regarding the recommenda-|' tions of the Committee. Following review by the management personnel of the College, I will provide a report to the Finance, Facilities & Personnel Committee of the Board. The Board will remember that I participated in a consultation of national experts on the subject of Paid Educational Leave and Re- current Education in New York and Boston last November. The OECD has invited me to attend as a par- ticipant to a continuation of that consultation in Amsterdam in October. W.L.
